How has the new year been for you? Some therapy professionals may be pleased about their life however, there are those who are not feeling the excitement. What can you do if you don't feel satisfied in some aspects of your life?
Understand that there are things you can do and steps you can take that will make a difference. You can't expect something new to happen if you keep doing the same things. Look in to your habits and interests. Be conscious of how you communicate with others and to yourself. See how this affects your current habits. What are your daily, weekly and monthly activities? Are they making your life move forward or is it keeping you stuck at one point?
Keep track on how much you are spending and how you are treating your family. Reflect on everything about your life. Have you tried journaling? Listing everything down, including your new year's resolutions, on a notebook may be really useful.
Observe other people who are in the same situation as you but are getting different results. Do you know a therapy professional who can deal with stress better than you? Ask him how he does it. Are your classmates more focused on their therapy career path? Get inspired by others to make a change in your life.
Start doing something different to make 2013 a different year for you. It can be taking time out for you and your family or even looking for a new therapy job.
Create a plan and do everything step by step. Here are some questions you should ask yourself:
- Where are you in your life now?
- What is important to you in your life? At the end of the year, what would you love to have done, seen and experienced?
- What is your most important area in your life? Set a goal focusing that.
- Where are you as weeks pass by? Is there any progress and changes?
- How can you overcome your fears and doubts?
Despite all the dissatisfaction from your life, may it be in your personal life or your therapy professional life, be thankful for what you have. Try to stay positive to make 2013 a great year for you!
