About the Author: Jessica Chase, M.A. CCC-SLP received her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Michigan University. She currently works at a K-12 public school and also writes for her website Consonantly Speaking. Jessica has known her whole life that she wanted to be a speech-language pathologist and volunteered at a camp for children with various disabilities for over 10 years. She has a passion for sharing information, materials, learning about new technologies, and collaborating with other speech-language pathologists and parents/caregivers of those with disabilities. Jessica believes that everyone is capable of communication whether it is through picture symbols, a communication device, gestures, non-verbal communication, eye blinking, or any other form of communication. She has worked with clients of all ages from two up through eighty years old as well as all types of disorders including TBI, aphasia, selective mutism, asperger’s, cluttering, and apraxia of speech. Jessica’s current speech and language interest areas are in technology, pragmatic language, auditory processing, apraxia of speech, and fluency disorders.
