Athletic trainers and physical therapists are being misunderstood as the same profession. Truth is, they both are health care professionals who deal with sports injuries. But what else do they have in common?

Oddly, a PT can specialize in sports and here is where they are dealing with sports injuries like an ATC. In a general sense, your statement reads like, you are lumping all PTs into one category. For example, this would be like saying that MDs, chiropractors, and nurse practitioners are misunderstood as the same profession because they treat people with various ailments.

Having read many blog posts and threads throughout a variety of LinkedIn groups. It is very common to find personal trainers using the same acronym, "PT" with their names. I have expressed my concern about this in those threads and it was not well received. My gut feeling is that some of those personal trainers do not mind using PT after their name even though it can be confusing and is confusing for the general public. It feels deceptive to me. I was even confused when reading comments by contributors and asked for clarification. One other thought; it may be common practice in the UK to use PT for personal trainers. Has anyone else come across this?
